What's the mastering about ?
Well, the work here is about to listen the whole piece as a stereo mixdown. I had to think about the finished product and what is might need to do, to improve the sound. This involves correcting and enhancing aspects of the mix and three areas of balance wich are : Frequencies / stereo image and loudness ( to be simple ).
I like to approach this step transparently without colouring the sound unless you ask me to.
Finally, one of the most important steps for me is to make sure that the production is not out of phase and of course that you like the final result.

What's the mixdown about ?
Mixing in music is the process in which multiple audio elements in a track are brought together and sonically placed in order to reduce imbalances between instruments by adjusting balance and color, tighten rhythmic patterns, and emphasize important song elements with tools like EQ, compression, panning, and reverb. This work is as much technical as creative, but always with the objective of satisfying your desire.
I like to think of audio mixing in 3 dimensions : height / width and depth.
